Our Champions

I was in 8th standard when I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, my parents could not handle when the doctor told us the diagnosis. Doctors at Shankara Cancer Hospitals did not delay my treatment. I was immediately admitted and my chemotherapies were started. The nurses motivated me whenever I was low and they treated me as their little sister. During the course of my treatment, I made a lot of friends and even after the completion of my treatment, they are in touch. I am forever grateful to Shankara for giving me the strength to fight and win against cancer.

Thrisha
Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) Survivor

Shankara Cancer Hospitals provides everything under one roof, I don't have to go anywhere else for any kind of diagnosis or tests. Everything is maintained well and done with the thought in mind that the patient needs to recover soon and go back home soon. I am grateful to them because what I am today is because of them.

Daksha
referred by a fellow airline passenger whose mother had a successful cancer tumour removal at Shankara Cancer Hospitals

The holy environment of the hospital made me feel secure. The treatment was difficult but the environment, atmosphere, hospitality and the way they took care of me were so soothing that I felt like I was living in a five-star hotel rather than undergoing cancer treatment. Here in Shankara Cancer Hospitals, right from the chief doctor to the housekeeping staff, they have so much compassion towards the patient. There is no discrimination between the quality of treatment provided to the different categories of wards. Even in the toughest phase of life, there was a good experience. I received a lot of support from staff, especially the nurses and doctors.

When I first came to Shankara Cancer Hospitals, one special thing I observed was their exceptional ‘Athithi Sathkara’ which means hospitality. The patient hospitality and care I received from the doctors and staff during my operation and chemotherapy were outstanding. I often tell other patients that, like accidents, cancer can happen to anyone, and Shankara is here to fix it with science and evidence-based treatments. There’s no need to feel sad about the disease.

Cancer Research and Sarva Rakshana - The Cancer Prevention Project

The scientists, researchers and clinicians at Sri Shankara National Centre for Cancer Prevention and Research undertake massive projects that play a pivotal role in advancing oncology research and preventive oncology.

Sri Shankara National Centre for Cancer Prevention and Research has adopted two taluks - Chintamani and Gauribidanur in the Chikkabalapur District, Karnataka. Our Community Oncology team conducts free cancer awareness and screening camps for residents of both taluks.

Our custom-built mobile cancer unit enables on-spot primary screening. When confirmation of a cancer diagnosis is necessary, the satellite-enabled mobile cancer unit can also relay the diagnostics data for consultation to our oncology specialists at Shankara Cancer Hospitals, Bangalore. The patients who receive a diagnosis at these free screening camps receive free treatment at Shankara Cancer Hospitals, Bangalore.

The donation you provide will help us to lead this project and help us get one step closer to building a cancer-aware and cancer-free community. Your support will help us lead prevention projects in many more taluks and facilitate the advancement of cancer research.
